A Victoria Park supermarket's chicken oven went down mid-cook on a busy trading day.
The store runs a high-volume chicken rotisserie operation. A fault with the fan motor had been building quietly. By the time it surfaced, the oven was mid-cycle with product inside.
What Was Happening
The rotisserie oven had been showing intermittent startup issues for some time. The motor was failing, and the fan blade had seized in place. An oven that won't circulate heat properly doesn't cook evenly, and an oven that won't start reliably at all creates a bigger problem during a trading day.
How It Was Handled
Benjamin arrived on-site and found the oven still running with a cook in progress. Rather than interrupt the cycle and waste the product, he waited for the cook to finish and the oven to cool before beginning work. The seized fan blade required careful heat application to free it safely. Once the motor was removed, the area was cleaned, a new seal kit was fitted, and the motor and blade were reinstalled. The oven was then preheated and monitored through a full cook cycle to confirm correct operation before Benjamin left the site.
The Result
The oven returned to full operation the same day, with product loss avoided by timing the repair around the active cook cycle. The operator received full documentation of the fault, the repair, and the post-repair function test.
