A contract catering operator running a cafe at Yanchep Lagoon faced a practical problem. The site runs on LPG, not natural gas. The existing fryer was not compatible. A new Blue Seal unit was coming in, and the old one needed to go. The job had to be done right, with a full gas conversion, a clean commissioning, and zero shortcuts on leak testing.
What Was Happening
The outgoing fryer was a natural gas unit. The incoming Blue Seal required full conversion to LPG, including adjustments to burner pressure and the gas connection point. This is not a swap-and-go job. An incorrectly converted fryer runs off-spec, burns oil faster, produces inconsistent results, and sits outside compliance. Getting it wrong creates a problem that does not show up immediately but shows up badly.
How It Was Handled
The technician collected all materials before travelling to site. On arrival, the old fryer was decommissioned and removed from site entirely. The new Blue Seal was installed with the gas connection modified to suit LPG supply. Burner pressure was set to LPG specification. Leak testing was completed in full. The barrier between the fryer and adjacent cooktop was reinstalled. Fresh oil was added, calibration was tested, and the unit was handed over to kitchen staff with everything running to spec.
The Result
The kitchen had a fully commissioned, LPG-converted fryer. Leak tests were completed and documented. The old unit was removed and disposed of as quoted. Staff received a handover on a working, compliant piece of equipment. No return visit required.
Why PEMS
The full scope, including supply of gas connection materials, conversion, installation, disposal and commissioning, was handled as a single managed job. The operator did not need to coordinate multiple trades or follow up on removal.
Operators running remote or coastal sites know how quickly a half-finished job becomes a multi-week headache. If your kitchen equipment is due for replacement or your site has a gas supply mismatch, PEMS handles the full process from supply through commissioning.
