A commercial kitchen in Kalamunda was running short on one of its most critical pieces of equipment heading into the new year. A leading food service group operates the site. The prover units support daily baking production. When one started causing electrical trips in late December, the operation needed a clear-eyed diagnosis fast.
What Was Happening
In December 2024, one of the site's prover units was tripping the electrical safety switch repeatedly. A site visit confirmed the compressor was the source. The rest of the electrical circuit tested healthy. Rather than guess or delay, the cooling function was isolated to keep the fault contained, and the team confirmed the remaining heating and proving functions were still safe to run. Staff were briefed so production could continue through the holiday period.
How It Was Handled
In February 2025, a replacement compressor was sourced locally and the full repair was carried out on site. The refrigeration system was properly decommissioned, the faulty compressor replaced, and the system recommissioned and run down to operating temperature before sign-off. Evaporator fan wiring was repaired as part of the same visit. The system was confirmed fully operational before the technician left.
The Result
The prover unit was returned to full operation with both its cooling and heating functions verified. The operator received a documented record covering the December holding action, the February repair, and the recommissioning confirmation.
Why PEMS
The December visit bought the operator time without creating risk. The February repair closed the fault completely. That two-stage approach, diagnosis then fix, kept production running across a period when getting parts and trades is genuinely difficult.
