A commercial baking oven at a major supermarket in Currambine ground to a halt in April 2026, threatening production output for Technobake's busy in-store operation. With a high-volume rotisserie cycle dependent on consistent rotation, any downtime directly hit fresh food availability on the supermarket floor.
The Fault
PEMS technician Mason inspected the unit and found seized carbon brushes on the right-hand side of the drive system. On the left-hand side, the clutch plate had been installed upside down, causing surface damage and a build-up of debris around the assembly. The combination of worn brushes and a misaligned clutch plate had progressively degraded drive performance until rotation failed entirely.
The Repair
Mason replaced all carbon brushes across both sides and fitted a new left-hand side clutch plate assembly, correctly oriented this time. The drive system was restored to full operation during the service visit. A contributing issue was also identified during testing: internal scrape marks indicated that large chicken legs were snagging on the oven interior and stopping rotation under load, which Mason flagged for the Technobake team to address operationally.
The Outcome
The rotisserie drive system returned to reliable operation, allowing Technobake to resume normal production at the Currambine store. Staff now have a clear understanding of the load-related snagging issue to prevent repeat stoppages.
