A Peel commercial kitchen faced unexpected downtime when a combi oven went out of service at an aged care facility. With residents depending on daily meal service, restoring the unit quickly was critical. Technician Ben attended the site to diagnose and resolve the fault on behalf of City Integrated Maintenance Services.
The Fault
The Peel ACH 114BGI combi oven had stopped powering on entirely. Investigation revealed the on/off module had failed and the reverse osmosis water filtration system had been previously disconnected, leaving the unit without proper water treatment. The faulty MMI PCB and a damaged MMI-to-TFT ribbon cable were also identified as contributing factors, compounding the electrical fault.
The Repair
Ben coordinated parts approval before returning to site, then carried out the full repair in a single visit. He installed a new 10-tray RO water filtration system, replaced the faulty MMI PCB, and renewed the ribbon cable connecting the MMI to the TFT display. The team waited for kitchen staff to finish using the oven before beginning work, keeping disruption to a minimum.
The Outcome
With the RO system reinstated, the PCB replaced, and all wiring renewed, the combi oven powered on and completed a full steam cook cycle without fault. The on/off button responded correctly and the unit returned to full service.
