A food production operator in Bunbury was mid-production when the rotisserie gantry started pausing mid-cook. Chickens were in the oven, a batch was underway, and the rotation was becoming unreliable. The equipment was still running. But not for long.
What Was Happening
The rotisserie gantry had been stopping intermittently during cook cycles. Staff had flagged it. On inspection, the internal components driving the rotation had worn smooth over time and lost the friction they needed to keep the gantry turning consistently. A display panel on the unit was also loose and deteriorating. Left unaddressed, erratic rotation would move from an inconvenience to a food safety and production issue.
How It Was Handled
Mason travelled from Perth to Bunbury for the job. On arrival, production was still running, so the team waited for the active cook cycle to finish before work began. Once the equipment was safe to access, the worn components were replaced with new parts. Mason stayed on site through a portion of the following cook cycle to confirm the gantry was rotating smoothly and consistently before signing off. The loose display panel was also addressed.
The Result
The rotisserie returned to full operation with the gantry running cleanly through subsequent cycles. The operator received a documented service record covering both faults, the components replaced, and the post-repair verification. No further intervention was required.
Why PEMS
The decision to wait for the active production cycle to finish before beginning work meant zero disruption to output that day. That is not an accident. It is how planned maintenance should be coordinated with operational reality.
