A commercial kitchen in Stirling had a simple problem on paper: an oven throwing a probe error mid-service.
What Was Happening
The oven had been showing a fault that stopped it functioning reliably. For a meals-on-wheels operation running production kitchens, that is not an inconvenience. It is a service delivery risk. Meals have to leave on time. Vulnerable people are at the other end of the schedule.
How It Was Handled
The technician arrived, worked through the fault with the kitchen team, and confirmed the probe needed replacing. Approval was gained before any parts were ordered. When the replacement probe was fitted, age caught up with the job. The original probe had been in the oven long enough that the thread had corroded and the probe snapped during removal.
Rather than stopping work, the technician drilled out the broken section, sourced a compatible bolt to clear the thread, and completed the installation. The oven was tested on the same visit and the fault cleared.
The Result
The oven returned to full service the same day. The fault was resolved, documented, and signed off. The kitchen team received a clear record of what was found and what was done.
