A Belmont supermarket bakery runs on schedule or it does not run at all. When the prover retarder went down, fresh product was at risk and the bakery timeline had nowhere to flex.
What Was Happening
The unit had two separate faults develop across consecutive visits. First, a blocked drain was causing water to pool across the floor, a safety and hygiene issue that had to be cleared before anything else. Second, the compressor in one of the provers had seized, leaving it unable to cool. Neither fault was going to resolve itself, and neither could wait for a convenient window.
How It Was Handled
Ben attended the site across two visits. The drain blockage was cleared and flushed through, with photos taken and attached to the job record. On the follow-up visit, once bakery staff had completed their proving cycle, Ben decommissioned the system, replaced the compressor, recovered and recharged the refrigerant correctly, and brought the unit back down to temperature. The job was fully documented at each stage.
The Result
The prover retarder was returned to full operation, tested and confirmed holding temperature. The operator received a complete service record across both visits, including the photo evidence from the drain fault and the refrigerant handling documentation required for compliance.
Why PEMS
Coordinating around an active bakery schedule, sourcing the compressor locally, and handling refrigerant recovery within compliance requirements all happened without the operator needing to manage the sequencing. One contractor, one job file, both faults closed.
